How much does it cost to be a member of your club? You can probably answer that question. What do your membership dues cover? That may not be as clear.
Many Rotarians know that a portion of their dues funds club and district expenses, as well as Rotary International operations worldwide. Few know exactly how that all breaks down. Dues are extremely important, as they are the single biggest source of revenue providing the services you enjoy as a Rotarian.

A.H. Royce Abbey, a former RI president and World War II hero who championed the inclusion of women members in Rotary clubs, died on 20 February. He was 91.
In addition to his term as RI president in 1988-89, he served as RI vice president and director, Foundation trustee chair, committee member and chair, International Assembly moderator, and district governor. Abbey, who joined Rotary in 1954, was a member of the Rotary Club of Essendon, Victoria, Australia.

No polio vaccinator had ever set foot in Killi Baksho, near Pakistan’s rugged northwest border with Afghanistan. Most people there have long opposed immunization, believing the polio vaccine causes infertility or AIDS.
The combination of that public mistrust and intimidation from militant groups has been nothing short of deadly. In 2013, 20 polio vaccinators and nine police officers assigned to guard them were killed in Pakistan. For years, Angalia Bianca had slept in abandoned buildings throughout Chicago. She stole. She did drugs. She spent time in and out of jail for forgery, theft, trespassing, and possession of narcotics. But after she landed in prison for the seventh time, something changed — Bianca knew she wanted a better life. She just didn’t know how to make it happen.

Music has been an important part of leading an ordinary life for students at the Music School for Children With Disabilities in Honor of Paul Harris in Lublin, Poland. Founded by Rotary members, the school serves 20 students with various disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, and visual impairments. The Rotary Club of Lublin-Centrum-Maria Curie-Sklodowska has provided funding with help from Rotary Foundation Matching Grants and the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society, which houses the school.

Ramkumar Raju of India and Winfred Karungi of Uganda have never met, but they have a great deal in common. They’re both Rotaract club members and district Rotaract representatives. They’re also promising young community leaders who helped plan successful Presidential New Generations Conferences in their countries.

For over 20 years, Michael Anyekase has crisscrossed Ghana drilling boreholes and installing hand pumps on wells to provide clean water. Water for drinking, washing, and flushing toilets.
«There is nothing more satisfying than when fresh water comes out of the well and the children shout, ‘Hey, water! Water!'» says Anyekase, who works for Water in Africa, a nongovernmental organization (NGO).

Highlights include:
Rotary Foundation Vice Chair Michael K. McGovern was elected to serve a second term as vice chair in 2014–15.
The Trustees approved a new logo for The Rotary Foundation.
Forty-five Rotarians were selected to receive The Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award, the Foundation’s highest service recognition.
