Hewko to be honored at this year’s El Tour de Tucson
RI General Secretary John Hewko will be honored at this year’s El Tour de Tucson, an annual cycling event in Arizona, USA, in recognition of last year’s successful Ride to End Polio and the good work Rotary does around the world.
Every year, the ride’s organizers select an individual who has had a significant impact on cycling or on El Tour. Hewko raised more than $240,000 in pledges for polio eradication through the 2012 Ride to End Polio, completing the 111-mile ride with his wife, Marga, and other Rotary members. The effort set an El Tour fundraising record.
